A month ago a prescribed burn took place on about 80 acres of open space at The Tree Farm. Within two days following the burn, grasses were sprouting up through the duff and signs of a healthy forest and habitat were everywhere. It is not common for developers or land owners to voluntarily burn their land. But at The Tree Farm, attention to healthy forest management practices is a key priority. Over the years our family has significantly invested in reducing fire fuels on The Tree Farm property and managing the land to the best possible extent to help prevent wild fire and to be prepared for wild fire should it occur nearby. Our commitment to becoming a Firewise community, our commitment to incorporating National Fire Protection Association standards into our design guidelines, and our recent collaboration with the US Forest Service, Oregon Dept of Forestry, Bend Fire Department and Bend Park and Recreation District on a prescribed burn are all significant steps we have taken to be good stewards of the land and prepare it for safe and healthy living for you and your families.
As we move into the Fourth of July weekend, please be aware of the risks associated with fireworks and the potential spread of fire. Be careful. Be smart. And enjoy the holiday weekend with your family and friends.
